Is it wrong that, at the first sign of rain, I’m already thinking about Spring Break? Actually there are a couple of reasons why Rebecca and I are making plans to fly away for some spring time sun. Friends of ours are spending a year in Spain in a rented flat with their kids enrolled in an international school and if my shooting schedule had allowed it, we would have embarked on that adventure with them. Rebecca and I love looking outside the box when planning for the future and that kind of experience can be remarkable for a child. Similarly, my family travelled through Europe when my sisters were about our kids age and Rebecca’s family did the same to Australia. So we are planning to spend three weeks in March of 2019 touring France and Spain with a large portion of time in Barcelona.
You know you are either traveling a lot (or maybe you work for WestJet) when you have the safety announcement memorized. I spent the last two weeks working in 5 different cities and I will be flying off again in a few days. I really appreciate the flight change policy that comes with being a WestJet Rewards Gold member. I’ve had to make last minute changes from time to time due to shoot days being extended and the process to change to a later flight with WestJet is a simple, direct phone line with no change fee. It eliminates the anxiety of not making my flight.
I do a lot of flying for filming home shows across the country and special engagements in Canada and the US. I have been enjoying the benefits of being a Gold member with WestJet but also the perks of flying internationally on WestJet Premium, which I previously enjoyed as WestJet Plus.
Rebecca and I recently travelled to New York for the unveiling of an art installation at Grand Central station that will raise awareness for the efforts of water.org.This is a cause that I am proud to be a part of, headed by Matt Damon. I was committed to showing up regardless of how we got there but Rebecca and I were able to upgrade to WestJet Premium which gave us expedited security screening, priority boarding, more seat space, and drinks and snacks were included. Not only did we enjoy our time in the big apple but our flight became a part of the journey. Now the Premium experience is getting even better. WestJet plans to retrofit their 737 fleet starting this winter with a new separate Premium cabin oversized seats and rows of two by two.
The real reason we are solidifying our trip plans to Europe… a recent announcement from my friends at WestJet. Their new 787 Dreamliner is sure to redefine the travel experience offering restaurant quality dining and lie-flat seats in their Business cabin, extensive entertainment options, lounge access and more. This amazing new aircraft will definitely be the right way to start a European vacation.
Look up the blog in April and we’ll tell you all about it – if you haven’t already beaten us to it. Bon voyage!
