If you’re like me, your kids don’t need anything new… like ever! But I still love to window shop so if after the first day of school you start hearing things like, “my backpack is too small” or “my shoes don’t fit” or “the zipper broke on my pencil case” here are my picks for school stuff this year
The great thing about this adorably fun line available at Indigo is that they give one to one from your purchase to Canadian kids in need of classroom supplies. It’s always fun to give back, especially when it looks this cute (check out the mermaid pencil case and unicorn planner). Ashlyn is moving out of primary this year and found the pinkest, sparkliest, most flamingoes backpack she could upsize to from the Yoobi line. CLICK HERE
Todd and I love that our kids are into Star Wars and there is so much out there to fulfill that nostalgic yearning vicariously through our kids. We love the Hans Solo water bottle Kesler got from Pottery Ban Kids this year. The line of Mackenzie large insulated water bottles will keep kids hydrated throughout the day and they love the pop-lid and straw. I love that the Hans Solo line is on sale right now! Be sure to check out the glow-in-the-dark options for backpacks, pencil cases and lunch bags. CLICK HERE
Ashlyn gets horrible heat rash on her feet usually at the start and end of the school year. We were so happy to find Geox shoes that breathe, especially since she is wearing the same pair of shoes every day with her uniform. She chose a classic Mary Jane style with a little embellishment to keep it fun. They cost a little more, but they last her all year, and if there’s anything Grandma taught us it’s, when it comes to feet, buy comfortable shoes, even if it means spending a little more. CLICK HERE
Stylish Clothes Great for Play
While we don’t have to stock up on back to school wardrobe, I always like to see what the new season of Peekaboo Beans has to offer. Our kids wear a lot of Beans because they’re comfy and I don’t mind them dressing themselves when the mix and match styles go together so well. My pick for Ashlyn from the fall line would be the Oddball Tunic.
And for Kesler it’s the Style Guy Jacket in Navy
Recycled Lunch Bag
Kesler doesn’t need a new lunch bag this year but thinking ahead, he has his eye on the Blaster lunch bag from Parkland Rodeo made of recycled water bottles. He loves that it’s sustainable and I love that even the front pocket is insulated. The built in name label is cute too. CLICK HERE
Easy Lunch Making
Bento box + collapsable container in one. Now that our tupperware is limited to one small drawer in our little Vancouver house, the collapsable container is my favourite thing. I’m always looking for multipurpose items for anything that needs to be stored in the house. Collapsable bento boxes are a great solution. They also take less time without having to match several containers to lids and there are less dishes to wash at the end of the day. We bought ours previously at Costco but I found the above set on amazon for under $20. CLICK HERE
And what about the groceries to put in your bento box?
I have a lot to say about ordering groceries online.
But for that, I’ll need another post! Until next time… happy back to school. Enjoy your well-deserved kid-free time!
