Just before we put our Lions Bay home on the market, we finally finished our master bedroom with some significant help from our friends at CF Interiors. After living there for almost 7 years, and just in time to list it! Actually had a number of months enjoying what is one of my favourite rooms in our Lions Bay home.
I thought it would be fun to share the original image that I found on Instagram which became our inspiration for the room. And some of the pieces and products that have been part of our selection process.
Everyone needs at least one image for inspiration, something to refer back to really helps ground the process and something to build around. Especially when there are two, or sometimes more, people that have an opinion on the concept of the room.
Here is what we started with
We were inspired by the different elements in this image. The combination of textures and surfaces plus the marriage of the more masculine wood headboard with the softness of the chair and throw.
The wood slab headboard we had in the bag. Working with the amazing team of Kate and Brodie at Spaltwood was fantastic.
So with the headboard sorted, we had a starting point for the rest of the room; lamps, linens, throw, chandelier, art and other decor touches. Rebecca and I have often cruised through the CF showroom on South Granville and coveted many of the curated pieces. It’s a family run business and I’ve gotten to know the team at CF Interiors who really helped to pull the room together.
Lighting was and is a key component in any room. What size lamp, what style? Do we go with a table lamp or a wall mounted sconce?
Here are a few of the finalists –
With some lamps in the running, we need side tables to place these on. The room is not very spacious and wanting to keep the focus on the headboard, we went with small side tables.
And some final touches to pull the whole room together but not too many trinkets that the drama of the wood slab is overtaken.
How did it come together? Take a peek…
Pretty sexy I think.
